Production Memo-

In doing this project I learned a lot about journalism. This particular project required skills in all aspects of online journalism. Reporting, interviewing, researching, blogging, editing, were some of the skills necessary to complete this project. I chose the topic of immigration because I feel that Long Island’s diversity is something that makes it so appealing to many people. However, narrowing down the amount of information on the topic was a bit difficult. It is a topic of much debate lately and with the elections coming up in a few months, many people are eager to see what will happen in the near future.
I did encounter some technical difficulties along the way, but none too serious. Overall, I was surprised at how smoothly it all went. Once the interviews started to come together, the rest fell in to place. My advice for future students would be to pick a topic that truly interests you so you won’t mind doing research, get the interviews done first then develop your story, and take your time editing and making sure it turns out the way you want it to.
